Brown Bear was sporting a new jingle bell collar and I figured I would snap a few pictures with my 1d mkIII and 50 f1.2L.

St. Kitts- Banana Bay

Well as my time in St. Kitts is coming to an end I realized I didn't have any photographs of one of my favorite beaches in St. Kitts; Banana Bay.  The beach is located on the far end of the peninsula, off to the right of Cockleshell and Reggae Beach.  The entrance to the beach is a bit hidden if you are driving straight to it but you can park at Cockleshell and walk to it.  The water is as clear as can be with some great snorkeling just off the shoreline.  One of my favorite parts of this beach is the fact that you are typically the only one there making it one of the most relaxing and calming places in St. Kitts.  All shots were taken with my 1d mkIII and 17-40 f4L.

Brown aka Kool-aid...

We were lucky enough to have Brown become a pack member in late November 2009.  He initially presented for what was thought to be TVT.  After some testing was performed he was diagnosed with cutaneous hemangiosarcoma with metastasis present in his lungs.  The preputial mass which had been slowly growing for nearly 9 months was finally removed yesterday (12-09-09) removed at ROSS university community practice.  He will have a few days to heal and then chemotherapy will follow.  Brown is one the best dogs I have ever had the chance to be around.  He should really be called Mr. Freeze because he is so chill and calm.  Right now we are going to give him the best chance to beat the cancer while maintaining a good quality of life.  We hope he pulls through.  These shots were taken with my 1d mkIII and 50mm 1.2L

WRX's Last Beach Day In St. Kitts...

Last Wednesday Rex boarded American Airlines, with my brother, and made the trip from St. Kitts to New York where he will reside till I come back to New York in late December. Before he left I wanted to get a few more beach shots of Rex so we went to the beach and I brought the 1d mkIII and 70-200 f4L IS combo. The sun was starting to go down which made for some great natural lighting. All in all I got the shots I wanted and he had a blast playing with his buddies on the beach.

Booby Island Adventure

We decided to go out in search of sharks in St. Kitts. Booby Island is located in the channel between St. Kitts and Nevis. It has been known to be inhabited by a wide array of sharks so that is where we decided to go. We used pig blood (pictured above using the canon G10 and underwater housing) and chum to attempt to lure some sharks close enough to the boat to photograph them. The pig blood was one of the most putrid smelling things on earth and if there were any sharks near they would have smelt it for sure. The entire boat nearly vomited when we dumped some out into the water. While we were waiting for the sharks to come we spent some time fishing and caught 7 gar as pictured above. Unfortunately we didn't get to see any sharks but we did have a great time hanging out and stopped on the way back to do swim for a bit.

St. Kitts- Cockleshell Beach

Cockleshell Beach is one of the nicest beaches in St. Kitts. It is everything you picture when you think of a Caribbean beach with its blue water, white sand and palm tree filled beach. Lion's is a place to hang out and enjoy real Caribbean food and drinks while at Cockleshell and there is also Spice Mill which is a newer more classy place to do the same. Either way you can't go wrong. While relaxing on the beach you get to see St. Kitts sister federation, Nevis, off to the distance as pictured above. All shots were taken with my 1d mkIII and 17-40 4L.

St. Kitts- North Friars Beach

North Friars Beach is one of my favorite on St. Kitts even though its very few people go to it. In fact 99% of the time you will be the only person on this beach. This is due to the fact that the water is very rough and has a very strong rip tide which has claimed several lives. I often bring our pack of dogs here to let them run free. This beach is also a very popular sea turtle nesting site so you must tread lightly to keep from disturbing their nests. These shots were taken with my 1d mkIII and 17-40 4L.

My First Jeep

Well I never liked jeeps much but I guess I never gave them a chance. I was always a fast car guy but when I came to St. Kitts for school (Ross University of Veterinary Medicine) I stumbled across a 1995 Jeep Wrangler 2.5l 5 speed. It took only a few weeks before I became a diehard Jeep nut and I recently purchased a 1987 Jeep Wrangler with a 4.0 HO swap, d44s and a bunch of other modifications for when I come back to the states. Needless to say I don't think I will ever be without atleast one Jeep in my garage. Although I will be adding another Mitsubishi Evolution to my garage but not until I am done with clinics. This shot was taken with my 1d mkIII and 17-40 4L.

Young Blood

Only in St. Kitts will you find a barber shop named Young Blood. Interesting choice for a name but none the less its a nice little shop. This shot was taken with my 1d mkIII and 17-40 4L.

Some Aerial Shots Of St. Kitts

A while back I went up in a helicopter to take some shots for Timothy Beach Resort. While up in the air I was able to get a couple shots of the St. Kitts peninsula for myself. It was my first time being up in a helicopter let alone taking taking pictures in one but I was able to get all the shots I needed and the client was more than happy with the final results. All shots were taken with my 1d mkIII and 17-40 4L.

It's Working Or Is It???

With elections here in St. Kitts nearing I figured I would post up some of the political signs that are scattered across the land. The PAM (People's Action Movement) party represent the yellow and are the party trying to take over the government while the red represents the Labour party that is currently in power. I try to stay out of politics but it will be interesting to see how the elections turn out whenever they are finally held. All shots were taken with my 1d mkIII and 17-40 4L.

Rex showing off his skills...

Rex was out playing and decided to grab a shot of him in action. He can jump quite high when he wants to, he can easily clear me in a vertical leap. These shots were taken with my 1d mkIII and 50 1.2L.

UPDATE: Wall E Squared AKA Gregory

Well its been nearly a month since Wall E Squared aka Gregory found us so I wanted to give everyone a little update on how he is doing. He is now with a new family with a little boy that absolutely adores him. The little boy actually renamed him Rex. He has really filled in and is doing excellent. Last weekend he went on a hike for the first time and had a blast. In the near future he will be getting neutered now that he is in better health. This shot was taken with my 1d mkIII and 17-40 4L.

Wall E Squared AKA Gregory

Well today we got Wall E Squared AKA Gregory. He is from the same parents as Wall E and Panda but from an earlier litter. He is extremely thin and has a good share of ticks and other parasites but in time he will come back to full health. Before meeting our pack we dewormed him, gave him a bath, applied some tick/flea prevention and took him for a nice long walk and he quickly acclimated. These shots were taken with my 1d mkIII and 70-200 4L IS.

Classic EVO vs Corvette picture...

Well after digging through some old photos on my computer I came across this image that quickly became an internet favorite. I still get a laugh out of this one every time I see it. The photo was a group effort between a couple of my friends back when I first was getting into photography. This shot was taken with my old XTi and 24mm 2.8.

Pandito got some new wheels...

Well we finally decided to get a cart for Panda. His rehabilitation was stunted with our previous methods so we started to look into alternative methods and came across Pet Mobility Rehab Center (www.petmrc.com). After speaking with them on the phone we were sold on the idea and ordered one up. They even offered that if Panda outgrew his current cart we could exchange it for a bigger one. About a week later we recieved a nicely powdercoated blue canine cart. It had lots of adjustments to make it fit perfectly and it also has the ability to allow for Panda to still use his back legs. This was a really nice feature because hopefully he will be able to build up enough muscle to one day walk on his own. Until then he will be flying around in his new set of wheels and loving every minute of it. He is finally able to be a real dog! These shots were taken with my 1d mkIII and 50 1.2L.

A hike with the pack...

Well I finally had some free time today so I did a hike. It was a mountain that has a pond filled with guppies at the peak. Its not very deep and its not very big but the dogs certainly love to cool down in it once they get there. These shots were taken with my Canon G10 because I didn't feel like lugging my 1d mkIII today.

St. Maarten Local Art...

While walking through St. Maarten I came across this shop and just had to take a picture. The colors were just so vivid. The place was called Escargot and I believe it was restaurant but I didn't go inside so I could be wrong. This shot was taken with my 1d mkIII and 17-40 4L (this combo was pretty much all I used the entire trip besides a few shots with my new canon G10.

St. Maarten Sunset...

The sunsets were absolutely breathe taking in St. Maarten. Here was one of my favorite shots from the two sunsets I got to see. This shot was taken with my 1d mkIII and 17-40 4L.

St. Maarten Nature Preserve...

While cruising around the island we came across a nature preserve and it truly was an amazing place. It was very well kept and the wildlife was just wild to see. A tour guide showed us a lot of the local aquatic creatures that lived in the shallow waters as seen above. All shots were taken with my 1d mkIII and 17-40 4L.

St. Maarten Sunset Bar & Grill...

Well while I was in St. Maarten for the weekend I had to make a trip over to the famous Sunset Bar & Grill. It is located right before the landing strip at Princess Juliana International Airport. As planes come down they very very close to the beach. These shots were taken with my 1d mkIII and 17-40 4L to give you an idea of just how close the planes fly here. In addition when they take off you can feel it from the beach and its so strong that it will nearly blow you off your feet.

Wall E with the new G10...

Well I sold my 40d and wanted to pick up a more compact back up camera. I decided on getting the new canon G10 and what a great decision that was. It truly is an awesome little camera and with only two days of shooting with it I know I made the right decision. Here is one of the first shots taken with it.

Lakeland Panas Varsity Boys Lacrosse

Last stop was my younger brothers high school lacrosse game. Again the weather was terrible but the 1d mkIII and 70-200 2.8L IS held up perfectly and allowed me to grab the shots I needed.

Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse

Then it was off to Fairfield University. The weather was terrible as it was quite gloomy and there was a constant drizzle. I was very glad I had the 1d mkIII and 70-200 2.8L IS as they are both very weather resistant and really proved it after almost 2 hours in the rain. All in all I was able to grab the shots I wanted and was glad I went.

Manhattanville University Men's Lacrosse

Next up was Manhattanville University. Turned out to be a beautiful day to shoot and got some really great shots of the game. Again I used my 1d mkIII and 70-200 2.8IS.

Lakeland Panas Varsity Girls Lacrosse

Well last week I decided to take some time to shoot some sports as my family had games all week long. The first game I headed off to was my younger sisters high school lacrosse. I shot the whole game with my 1d mkIII and 70-200 2.8L IS. The weather was great and couldn't ask for any better of conditions.

Thursday, April 16, 2009

Well I came across some monkey's and was lucky enough to have my camera on hand and just shot away. These were two of my favorite of the bunch. All shots were taken with my 1d mkIII and 70-200 2.8L IS with 1.4x II.
WallE decided to go for an adventure and when he came back he was covered from head to tail in these black seeds. It was quite comical to see. This shot was taken with my 1d mkIII and 50 1.2L.

Snapshots of the pups...

Its been forever since I have taken pictures for personal use but today I decided to grab a few quick snapshots of my pups. These were taken with my 1d mkIII and 50 1.2L.

Today we got to re-xray Panda and he is showing great improvement. The kyphosis is not nearly as bad as it had been but there is some scoliosis forming. Between the xrays and lack of pain in the area; the spondylitis looks to be ruled out. He has been going through lots of physical therapy and with each new day he gets that much better. 4 weeks ago he could not walk due to the paresis in the hindlimbs but he now can walk short distances.

WRX turns 1 year old...

Today my baby boy turned 1. We threw a little party for him with the rest of our pack and he loved to wear his birthday hat.

Military Trail Hike

Finally got some free time so I took the pack on a local rain forest hike. It was a blast and a nice change of pace from the usual daily grind. At the top of the trail I snapped a few shots with my 1d mkIII and 50 1.2L (my most common combo now-a-days).
